Hi there,
 You're the second person to hit this problem in the last week. It's
due to a bug in the gmail.com servers, which you're using to provide
your XMPP account, when joining MUC rooms. I'd suggest you just grab
an account somewhere else (e.g. jabber.org) and use that.
